Repent and live!

In this world of uncertainty, many people-even Christians, seek to know the path their life will take and what lies in their future. They often seek mediums, gypsies, clairvoyants or readers of tarot cards, or spiritualists. Worse still, they think it's all a bit of fun and they don't care where the information comes from. That is dangerous ground because it is going against God's Laws and allowing evil in to their life.

‘And the person who turns to mediums and familiar spirits, to prostitute himself with them, I will set My face against that person and cut him off from his people. Leviticus 20:6

In seeking to know the future, clients often pay top dollar for a reading, being it by ouija board, seances, palmistry, tarot cards, necromancy, tea leaves or crystal ball gazing and astrology. And usually there is enough information that rings true to the client to assure a rapt audience and future revenue for the occultist. This gives them power over you. There is also the element of fear evoked. This is where the danger lies.

We are told that there is a spirit world and scripture forbids us from tapping into it. So adamant is God about occult's dangers that He specifically forbids us from consulting mediums or witches, or practising the arts of magic. Why? you ask. Because the knowledge gained is from tuning into the unseen spirit world and is an abomination to the LORD. It is demonic and a deception. 

‘Give no regard to mediums and familiar spirits; do not seek after them, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God. Leviticus 19:31

Our future is in God's Hands. It is not for us to pursue that hidden knowledge. Like King Saul, who consulted the Witch of Endor, lost his kingdom through this sin, we too will lose our personal peace. 

These activities give opportunities for the demonic spirits to control our thought life and even eventually, take our souls for God says that those who practice in the occult will not inherit eternal life.

And he (Manasseh) caused his children to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom: also he observed times, and used enchantments, and used witchcraft, and dealt with a familiar spirit, and with wizards: he wrought much evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger. 2 Chronicles 33:6

Now, if you have been seeking out people in this way, to learn of the future, or to contact a dead person, you must repent and that means, stop doing it. Like Manasseh, you can be forgiven and restored. God is merciful.  Where sin abounds, God's Grace is greater.

Do not usurp God's right to know your future and to control it. Trust in Him and leave it in His Hands. God is sovereign, not you. Seek Him about your future and pray for guidance. Repent and live!

And prayed unto him: and he was intreated of him, and heard his supplication, and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the LORD he was God. 2 Chronicles 33:13
